  • Electronic Personnel Activity Reporting System (ePARS)
    ePARS is Washington University’s electronic web-based effort reporting system.  Faculty, staff and students that work on sponsored projects are required to utilize ePARS to certify the effort they contributed to those projects. Find policy and training information, quick reference guides, FAQs, and certification due dates.

  • eRA Commons
    eRA Commons is an online interface where signing officials, principal investigators, trainees and post-docs at institutions/organizations can access and share administrative information relating to research grants throughout  the grants life cycle.  NIH’s eRA systems are used by NIH, AHRQ, CDC, FDA, SAMHSA and the VA, and provide applicants, grantees and federal staff the tools necessary for electronic processing of grants. Track the status of your federal applications; view summary statements, NoA, and other key documents; submit required JIT information, FFR, RPPR, admin supplement requests, NCE notifications, and final reports; administer xTrain, and more.
  • My NCBI
    My NCBI is an online tool that retains user information and database preferences to provide customized services for many NCBI databases.  Features include “My Bibliography” (MyBib), a portal that allows PIs to manage and maintain a list of all their authored works. A partnership between eRA Commons and NCBI allows users to benefit from MyBib’s ability to populate citation data from PubMed, PubMed Central, and the NIH Manuscript Submission System (NIHMS) to facilitate management of publication compliance with the NIH Public Access Policy. Use My NCBI and MyBib to associate NIH awards with publications, determine compliance with NIH Public Access Policy, and assign delegates to manage your bibliography.
  • NIH Office of Extramural Research (OER)
    OER provides leadership, oversight, tools and guidance in applying for NIH funds, and administering and managing NIH grants policies and operations. Find information about types of NIH grants programs, funding notices, forms and deadlines, submission policies, grants policy and guidance, news and events, and more.
  • NIH Research Portfolio Online Reporting Tools (RePORT)
    The RePORT website provides access to reports, data, and analysis of NIH research activities, including information on NIH expenditures and the results of NIH-supported research. Find tools such as RePORTER – an electronic tool that allows users to search a repository of NIH-funded research projects and access publications and patents resulting from NIH funding (replaced CRISP in 2009), the NIH Data Book, success rates, awards by location, and other funding facts and resources.
  • Pivot Funding
    Pivot is a subscription service provided by the OVCR for all Washington University research faculty. Formerly the Community of Science (COS), Pivot provides a comprehensive database of funding sources and opportunities as well as an expertise database to help you identify potential research collaborators. Create or update your Pivot profile, search funding opportunities from all categories of sponsors, and set up customized, automated funding alerts based on keywords and areas of interest.
  • Washington University Research Gateway
    The Research Gateway is a consolidated, single sign-on resource that provides WUSTL faculty and staff access to the numerous research-related resources, tools, forms, and applications necessary to propose, perform, manage, and close research projects and satisfy compliance requirements. Find comprehensive and efficient access to proposal and award management tools, compliance tools, protocol submission and management resources, technology and intellectual property information, research education and programming, and other helpful links to internal and external resources.
  • WUSTL Core Research Facilities and Resources (CRFRs)
    Washington University Core Research Facilities and Resources (CRFRs) are defined as specialized data centers, laboratories, state-of-the-art equipment facilities and service units that offer shared assets to University investigators. Examples of core offerings include novel technologies, equipment, sample and data collections, informatics, analysis tools, consultation, evaluation, specialized technical training, and expertise. Search and link to WUSTL research cores to identify services, expertise, or equipment that can enhance your research projects.

  • Human Research Protection Office (HRPO)
    HRPO helps to ensure that all University research involving human participants is conducted in accordance with Federal and State regulations and University and sponsoring agency policies and procedures instituted to protect the rights and welfare of human research participants.   • Office of Postdoctoral Affairs (OPA)
    The OPA provides support and resources for postdoctoral researchers, as well as faculty and administration, and advocates for postdoctoral issues. Find information on events and seminars specific to postdoctoral researchers, career and professional development, policies and benefits, and other resources.
  • Office of Sponsored Research Services (OSRS)
    OSRS supports Washington University faculty and administrative personnel in all aspects of their work associated with research administration. This office is responsible for reviewing and processing proposals, documents and letters for submission to funding agencies, providing official institutional signature, negotiating acceptable terms and conditions with sponsors, and providing communication, education, and training on grants, contracts and subagreements to the University research community.   • Office of Technology Management (OTM)
    The OTM assists members of the University in the transfer of technology to private companies for the benefit of society while generating income to support research and education. OTM manages a wide variety of intellectual properties arising from research programs ranging from patents, copyrights, know-how, and proprietary materials too assisting faculty with consulting agreements.   • Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR)
    The OVCR is responsible for University-wide research policies, procedures, operations, support infrastructure, and educational programs; these include research administration systems, research ethics, education and compliance, and technology transfer. Find research new and updates, research integrity and compliance information, descriptions and links to research-related offices and committees, policies and guidelines, proposal development and award management resources, federal budget information, and more.
  • Office of Training Grants (OTG)
    Housed within the Clinical Research Training Center (CRTC) at the Medical School, the newly established OTG aims to provide a variety of resources to assist in the submission and management of training programs at Washington University. Find information on proposal assistance, data repositories, mock study sessions, and the Council of Training Programs (CTP) – which was formed to better coordinate all of the training programs at Washington University by sharing information, resources, and best practices.
  • Research Education & Information Office (REI)
    REI provides programs, resources, and tools that promote ethical and responsible conduct of research and support research management and compliance activities at Washington University. Find an events calendar and information about RCR, PERCSS, financial management, and other educational programming opportunities and materials for WUSTL researchers and research administrators.
  • Office of Research Integrity & Ethics (ORIE)
    ORIE provides administrative support to the governing committees responsible for managing research related financial conflicts of interest, addressing allegations of research misconduct, and ensuring research involving human embryonic stem cells or human embryos is conducted in accordance with applicable policies and regulations. Find information, tools, and services that support the Washington University research community in upholding the highest standards of ethical conduct and assuring the integrity of the research process.
  • Sponsored Projects Accounting (SPA)
    SPA is the financial intermediary between sponsors of research and University investigators, and is the primary source for interpretation of relevant rules, regulations and laws governing incurring, reimbursing and reporting costs under sponsored-research agreements. Find annual reports, FAQs, policies and guidelines on reporting, travel, purchasing (meals, Fly America Act, etc.), consultants, cost sharing, effort reporting, external audit, unallowable costs, and more.

The Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR) is responsible for directing and guiding Washington University in St. Louis’ research mission. The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) shares information on funding opportunities for all Washington University research faculty.   • Guide Star provides information about nonprofits and the work they do. This material is provided by the organizations and public files. 
  • Grant Forward is a grants database that searches some 14,000 funding opportunities available to graduate students, faculty, undergraduate students, and institutions. 
  • OppNet provides a listing of funding opportunities for strengthening basic behavioral and social science research.

Provides advice regarding strategic decisions, financial and operations management, and related issues; develops and implements finance-related policies and procedures for the center; performs cost analyses; and supports the Brown School budgeting process.

Reporting to the Associate Dean for Administration the Director manages the School’s research portfolio, and provides administrative and compliance oversight to funded research at the Brown School.  In addition, the Director of Research Administration is responsible for providing research and analysis to inform interim, annual and long range strategic planning for sponsored research activity at the Brown School and proactively identifies and investigates options for new funding mechanisms.
