The Office of Field Education is your primary resource for anything related to field education, also known as your practicum (MSW and MPH) or internship (MSP). This team of faculty works with students to integrate course content into the practice setting. At the Brown School, we do not assign students to specific practica.  We assist you with selecting your own field experience. Field faculty oversee the field education curriculum and provide advising as you:

  • plan, apply for, interview for and select a practicum
  • connect your field work with your academic and career goals
  • obtain guidance and support around obstacles in your practicum

In addition, Field faculty will:

  • Serve as the faculty liaison for all field education experiences including grading practicum deliverables, assessing student progress, conducing site visits at the midpoint of the semester, and providing a grade for practicum
  • Maintain close collaboration and consultation with the practicum site
  • Teach the Integrative Seminar for foundation MSW students
