Relationship and Sexual Violence Prevention Center

  • The RSVP Center offers resources including instructions on filing an anonymous report, important contacts for victims of relationship or sexual violence, and resources for friends who wish to help a victim through this process. They also can assist with accommodations in many areas, such as housing, classes, and counseling services, and can connect students to resources such as ongoing medical and mental health care.
    • The RSVP Center caters to immediate safety concerns as well as those who are processing through their experience and working towards next steps.

Habif Health & Wellness Center (Student Health Services)

  • Habif offers short-term, time-limited counseling services/therapy groups, referrals to private mental health care close to campus for longer term treatment, and services specifically for LGBTQIA students.
  • Students receive 9 free counseling sessions each year and there are additional mental health resources on their website.
  • When to use the resource: Habif has services available for immediate concerns, such as crisis response and the Let’s Talk program that provides brief consultations without an appointment. It also has services for longer term concerns, such as treatment for ADHD and eating disorders.

Suicide Prevention Lifeline

  • This is a national hotline but will redirect to local resources.
  • The National Suicide Prevention Lifeline provides 24/7 free and confidential support for people in distress, prevention and crisis resources for an individual or their loved ones, and best practices for professionals. The website offers help for many different populations such as Native Americans, Veterans, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, and options for assistance in Spanish.
  • When to use the resource: The lifeline is available 24/7 and the resources online help educate those who need help as well as those who have a loved one who may need help. There is also information and resources for professionals and providers.

Sexual Assault and Rape Anonymous Helpline (SARAH)

  • SARAH is a student-run 24/7, confidential and anonymous helpline that serves the WashU community and offers counseling, resources and referrals on a wide range of issues such as interpersonal violence, sexual abuse, and sexual health.
  • They provide resources both on and off campus as well as educational trainings for groups interested in learning about sexual assault on our campus.
  • When to use the resource: Users can call and leave a message for the SARAH helpline and a SARAH will return their call within 20 minutes from a blocked number. SARAH’s are trained to cover a wide range of topics such as LGBTQIA* issues, STI/health risks, and high-risk coping mechanisms (i.e. self-harm).

Trevor Lifeline

  • The Trevor Project offers 24/7 counseling for young adults in crisis, feeling suicidal, or in need of a safe and judgement free place to talk. They especially cater to LGBTQ youth between the ages of 13-24 and allies to provide them with resources and answers to questions about sexual orientation, gender identity, and more.
  • When to use the resource: The lifeline is available 24/7, 365 days a year. The online instant messaging is available 7 days a week from 3-10 PM, Eastern Standard Time and 12-7 PM Pacific Standard Time. The texting option is available Monday-Friday from 3-10 PM, Eastern Standard Time and 12-7 PM Pacific Standard Time and standard text messaging rates apply. There is also a social networking site for LGBTQ youth and allies to connect with one another.

Steve Fund Crisis Text Line

  • Students of color can connect to a trained crisis counselor 24/7. Text “STEVE” to 741741

Behavioral Health Response

  • Behavioral Health Response offers confidential telephone counseling 24/7, 365 days a year, but should not be used in the case of emergencies. Also, they offer mobile outreach services, community referral services and critical incident stress management.
  • When to use the resource: This website lays out many resources available to those in St. Louis to help with their mental health as well as trainings for practitioners and professionals.

RAINN

  • Rape, Abuse & Incest National Network is the nation’s largest anti-sexual violence organization and offers a 24/7 hotline and an online chat service for those seeking support, information, advice, or a referral. Also, they offer programs to prevent sexual violence, help survivors, and ensure that perpetrators are brought to justice.
  • When to use the resource: Users can learn more about the public education and public policies currently in place for these topics and can be used to help process through an event and help to formulate next steps.

United Way 2-1-1

  • United Way of Greater St. Louis runs a 24/7 hotline that connects users to agencies, services, and resources in their area. They provide information about and connections to a variety of non-emergency needs including disaster relief, counseling, job training, financial resources, food and housing resources, and more. The United Way also offers an online resource directory for users.
  • When to use the resource: 211 is a hub for many of the resources available in the St. Louis area around health, mental health, basic needs, community resources, and more.
