Students in the dual degree (MPH/MSW) program must complete a total of 8 credits of practicum as a requirement for the program. Each credit is worth 120 hours. These credits are divided as follows:

  • Foundation Practicum:
    • In the spring of the first year in the program, students will complete 3 credits (360 hours) of Foundation practicum
    • Students will also enroll in Integrative Seminar concurrently with the first semester in practicum
  • Concentration Practicum:
    • Students can complete their 2 credits (240 hours) of MSW only practicum once they have completed their foundation practicum
    • This practicum can be completed at the same agency as your dual practicum
  • Dual Practicum:
    • Students can complete their 3 credits (360 hours) of dual (MPH/MSW) practicum after the completion of their pre-requisites courses for MPH as well as any specialization specific courses (if applicable)
    • This practicum must be completed at one agency that is affiliated for both programs
    • Students can search on Symplicty for dual affiliated sites

Dual Self-Evaluation of Competencies and Performance
As part of your practicum requirements, you must complete this self-evaluation two weeks prior to the end of your practicum experience. Once you have submitted the self-evaluation, an email with a link to complete the final evaluation will be sent to your field instructor.

Student Assessment of the Practicum Experience
All students are encouraged to complete the Student Assessment of Practicum Experience (SAPE) at the conclusion of your practicum.
